Shipping policy

We ship within Japan and to the United States with tracking, signature on delivery and full insurance. Shipping is free on every order. Import duties and taxes on international orders are paid by you, the buyer.

Where we ship

We ship within Japan and to the United States. If you are elsewhere and would like a piece, write to us — we will tell you honestly whether we can get it to you safely.

What shipping costs

Nothing. Shipping is free on every order, both within Japan and to the United States. The price shown on the product page is the price you pay us, and no shipping charge is added at checkout.

How your order travels

  • Dispatch — within 1–2 business days of your order, from Nagaoka, Niigata.
  • Carrier — FedEx or DHL Express.
  • Transit time — typically 3–7 business days to the United States, plus any time the parcel spends in customs. Within Japan, typically 1–2 business days.
  • Tracking — emailed to you as soon as the parcel is collected.
  • Signature — required on delivery. These are valuable items and we will not leave them on a doorstep.
  • Insurance — every parcel is insured for its full value.

Packaging

Each piece is wrapped to hold its shape in transit, boxed, and sent in plain outer packaging with no branding that advertises what is inside.

Import duties and taxes

This section applies to international orders. Orders shipped within Japan are not subject to import duties.

Duties, import taxes and any customs brokerage fees are your responsibility as the buyer. They are not included in the price you pay us, and they are charged separately by the carrier or by US Customs, usually before delivery.

We declare every parcel accurately, at the price actually paid, as required by law. We cannot mark an order as a gift or declare a lower value. Requests to do so will be declined.

The United States suspended its de minimis exemption in 2025 — the rule that previously let low-value parcels enter duty-free. Since then, imported goods can attract duty regardless of value, so you should assume that a charge will apply to your order. The amount depends on the item, its declared value and the tariff treatment in force at the time your parcel arrives. Your carrier will contact you with the exact amount.

If a parcel is refused or unclaimed

If a parcel is returned to us because import charges were not paid or delivery was refused, we will refund the item price less our outbound shipping cost and any return charges we incur.

Lost or damaged in transit

Every parcel is insured. In the rare event that something goes wrong, contact us and we will handle the carrier claim ourselves and make you whole. You should not have to negotiate with a freight company over a purchase you made from us.
