About Us
We are a small team in Nagaoka, Niigata, buying vintage pieces from the Japanese secondhand market and sending them to people who will actually carry them.
Why Japan
If you have ever wondered why so much of the world's good vintage passes through Japan, the short answer is that Japan looks after its things.
Bags here are stored in their dust bags, kept out of the sun, and carried carefully. There is a deep culture of resale, with dealer auction houses that have operated for decades and long-standing norms around grading and disclosure. The result is that a twenty-year-old bag from Japan often arrives in condition that surprises people buying from elsewhere.
We work inside that market. We buy from established auction houses and from dealers we have known long enough to trust.
What we actually do
Sourcing is the part that takes the time. We look at a great many pieces and buy very few. What we are looking for is the bag that has been kept well — the one where the corners are intact, the hardware still has its finish, and the shape has not collapsed.
Every piece we buy is then inspected in our own studio, photographed as it is, measured by hand, and graded on the six-step scale used across the Japanese market. Then we write the description, including the parts that are not flattering.
Where we came from
We have been selling internationally on eBay, where our buyers have left us consistently positive feedback and a number have come back to us repeatedly. Some now buy from us at wholesale.
This shop exists so that we can serve those customers directly — and so that we can tell the story of each piece properly, with the space that a marketplace listing never quite allows.
The part we take most seriously
We describe damage.
It sounds like a small thing to build a business on, but it is the thing we care about most. If there is a scuff on a corner, a mark in the lining or a scratch on the hardware, it goes in the photographs and it goes in the description. We would rather lose the sale than have a box arrive and disappoint someone.
This is also why our condition notes can read bluntly. That is deliberate. You should be able to picture the bag before it arrives.
What we are not
LifeCreation is an independent reseller of pre-owned goods. We are not an authorised dealer and we have no affiliation with, endorsement from, or connection to Louis Vuitton Malletier or any other brand whose items we resell. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
If you are buying your first vintage piece
Write to us. Tell us what you are drawn to and what you would actually use it for, and we will tell you honestly what suits — including when the answer is to wait for something else.
We would rather you bought one bag you love than three you were talked into.
